Crisscrosing the Galaxy at Faster than the Speed of Light for a Hug
by Paco José Madden
Skylar lives in a technology obsessed world where there’s little human contact. After a rough day at virtual reality school, Skylar asks her father for a hug. But he’s too busy buying and selling gizmos and gee-whiz bots to give his daughter a hug. He can't even remember what a hug is. With her faithful companion and robot dog, Einstein, Skylar decides to traverse the galaxy in search for human touch. The two build a spaceship that can travel at faster than the speed of light. On their adventure, Skylar and Einstein encounter strange alien beings, celestial objects, and a vision of the Earth's possible future. Crisscrossing the Galaxy at Faster than the Speed of Light for a Hug is a play for young audiences about technology, the cosmos, and what it means to be human.
